Cobra Kai Yah!

Current Clothes sizes: 36 waist XL shirt

Current Exercise Condition: 8.5 good cardio endurance, great burst and speed again, great lifting numbers never have had stronger arms and shoulders.

Overall Rating Total: 7

Ripquest has been an amazing journey. I think I know what Odysseus must have felt like after his great adventure or maybe Zac Efron after High School Musical 3: Graduation. Not only did I lose a great amount of weight but I have established some great new habits that fit seamlessly into everyday life. People pay large amounts of money to lose the weight that I have so the $100 entry was well spent. I think looking back, like a Bachelor reunion show there are some things I would have done different but I think having relations with the many different types of ladies I mean working out helped me discover what I was really looking for in the long run. Balance between mind, body and I get treated like Norm from Cheers at the gym now. I think my results, consistency, far superior trash talk and great weekly entries catapult me clearly into the winner circle. Ripquest though our battle ends here today you will always have a place in my heart when I eat Double Western Bacon Cheeseburgers.

Bring It on Norris bring it on (please reference initial goals)

Bear Claw-Finalist 2

Beginning Weight: 233
Current Weight: 188

Beginning Clothes Sizes: 38"
Current Clothes Sizes: 33"

Beginning Exercise Condition: 3 - Was too heavy to run much it hurt my joints. 10-11 minute miles were a stretch. also pretty weak lifting. Just felt like a blob.

Current Exercise Condition: 9 - since starting RipQuest I can bench 210, finally more than my weight. I run a sub 20 minute 5k. I have also done 2 100+ mile bike rides. Feeling great!

Overall Rating Total: 8.4

Brief paragraph: This was really fun to do. I gave some method to my madness. I could have done better toward the end but a ton of "life" things happened. I am going to keep it up and if I win I will challenge the other fellas to double or nothing for Jan.1 2010.

BEEF-Finalist 1

Beginning Weight: 237
Current Weight: 207

Beginning Clothes Sizes: 38"
Current Clothes Sizes: 34"

Beginning Exercise Condition: 4 - Working out was miserable and I would get winded and weak almost instantly. My over all energy level was really low.
Current Exercise Condition: 8 - I still have room for improvement but have never reach this level of fitness in my life. My cardio and endurance is stronger than I ever thought possible. A one hour workout energizes me rather than sucking out everything I had. My strength when completing every day tasks is like being a different person. Many things that would tire me out just feel routine and normal.

Overall Rating Total: 96/14 Average Rating 6.9

Brief paragraph: I'm glad we did this. I've tried getting in shape several times before but never stuck it out this long. Health conscious living has become a lifestyle and exercise is something I want to do rather than feel like I should do. I came very close to my weight loss goals and feel like I've far surpassed my expectations for physical strength and endurance. I can't wait till next year. I should win because I don't have saggy boobs anymore.

Your 6 Week Goals (Write a short paragraph describing the next month and a half... exercise, diet, body transformation)
6 Week Goals: Diet- Less than 2000 calories/day Exercise- 4 miles running or 400 yards swimming + push-ups and sit-ups 6 days a week Transformation: I want to see the pounds melt away and finish June 1st below 230 pounds.

Current Weight: 212
Total Loss: -25lbs
Your 6 Week Goals: My goal is to increase stamina and overall strength. I've never been able to keep up in any active sport so I would like to be prepared for a competitive race this summer. I'm limiting my dairy intake and eating primarily lean protein and vegetables. By the end of this I want to be at or around 200lbs. In my weight lifting workouts I'm aiming for size so I will be keeping my reps closer to 8-10. I'd like to see at least a little bit of ab definition at the end of all this...

Eating perfection, strong workouts. We have had a lot going on with moving etc. and I need to get back to my established routine.

Cobra Kai
Current Weight: 226
Total Loss: 32.7lbs

First let's take it down a little I want you all to put on something smooth perhaps a little mister LaMontagne or some Foghat, I don't know your call but it will be great back ground for imagining cobra kai running on the beach doing the occasional jump kick toning his body over the next six weeks as he sheds llbs all the way down to the 210 mark and beyond. I'm going to increase the amount of excercise but i'm going to start mixing it up, much more surfing, yoga, monster truck pulling and beach related excercises. as far as diet goes I will go from Vitamin D milk to 2% and completely cutting out sheet cake finally getting rid of my spare tire. I'll let you guys sleep on that for now.

To bust through my slump by eating right, hitting the gym 5 days a week, and getting below 170 lbs

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Current Weight: 194 bad week for me
Total Loss: +2
Your 6 Week Goals (Write a short paragraph describing the next month and a half... exercise, diet, body transformation)

My goal for the last six weeks is to increase my endurance. Ive been playing a lot of soccer and want to be able to go for longer periods of time so that I can have a bigger impact of the game. Im going to limit my carbs and fried food intake as well as limit myself to no more than one day of fast food aka mcdonalds, ez take out, carls junior. If I go out to eat I will not over eat/endulge in un-necessary wants that my body doesnt need. Im going to continue playing soccer and hit the gym daily. My old gym buddy fractured some vertibrate recently and Ive lacked motivation to go alone. Im going to make myself go and make my ab crease get more defined as well as my arms.

I want to finish below 190 as ive replaced fat with muscle and wont get down to 175 like I originally thought.

I need to run more. Im building a lot of muscle which I thought this was all about (lots of definition in my arms and shoulders) but I guess weight loss has become the main goal. Im gonna work on lots of running to cut more weight and slim down my handles on my back.

- My most positive experience was not focusing on my weight everyday but making a conscious effort to just plainly pay attention to the health aspect by eating right and excersing by walking, running, and getting up off the couch

-Rating overall is a 5...i know I can do better and I didn't get started in the gym until a few weeks ago

- I will improve by pushing myself to run and not be weary, walk and not faint....and drop another 20 lbs...grape juice helps

Weeks 7 & 8. Welcome to the Lab B*#che$!!!

Week 6 is complete... leaving 10 weeks until the end of this competition.

HEY PEOPLE! We are sensing a bit of apathy and lack motivation out there!!!

Our job is to help you guys push to your limits and acheive your goals.

It is time to mix things up. So here it goes...

-We will not be awarding week 6 winners male or female due to low numbers on weight loss and personal evaluation ratings.

-There will be no report next week because for the next two weeks you will be entering "The Lab"

-What is the Lab you ask? Here are the requirements:

1. As the name implies, "The Lab" is an environment to experiment and discover new boundaries. For our purposes, your "Lab" will be the next 2 weeks and the ONLY purpose is to initiate a personal experiment for you to see what happens when you eat better and workout harder than you have in entire life!

2. Yes, we mean it. No excuses, no complaints, no rationalizing. How will you know you are doing it? Every single day over the next 14 days will be HARD. You will curse the ripquest name and wish you were dead. Each night as you go to bed you will be tired, hungry, and cranky! And as you crawl into that bed you will need to set your alarm in plenty of time to get that morning workout in.

3. Give your scale to someone to hide. Everyone is getting too hung up on that daily trip to weigh in. During the lab there will be no weighing in, just hard freaking work! When the 14 days are up, everyone will do a weigh in report and take their 8 week photos.

4. Perfect Eating: Yes we mean it. No junk food, no grease, no refined sugars, no bad food AT ALL!!! We don't care if it is your birthday or your wedding. There will be no cheat meals, sneaks, or snacks! For 2 weeks you can be perfect.

5. Double Workouts EVERYDAY: We mean this too. Twice a day you will engage in some form of fitness activity even if it is 15 minutes of stretching and sit ups before bed. The point is obviously to burn calories and create muscle but even more so, for you to prioritize your health and get you out of your current routines by forming new habits.

6. This contest is all about YOU achieving your goals and changing your life and as such is on your honor.

7. Recognize that we have put you in a horrible place with only two difficult options....

First Option: Read this, think to yourself ummm yeah whatever I will do what i can and if not oh well... blah, blah, blah go through the same old motions... blah blah.

Second option: Commit fully to this experiment, enter the lab, struggle, work your butt off, and come out of these two weeks unstoppable.

*Each ripquester needs to print up the above rules, post them where they can see them and reply to this email by typing "I name commit to my own personal Lab fitness experiment and will do everything required to complete it."

Over these 2 weeks we will posting on the blogs every tip and piece of motivation we can muster to see you through.

Have a great next 14 days!!!

One Week Down RipQuesters!

Well the first round of reports are in... congrats to everyone on a great first week. For the first round of reporting we were pretty aggressive in reminding everyone to report. But now that everyone has done one week and knows their day to report it is 100% on you guys.

Remember, if you miss your report you will be DQ'd, no exceptions. The reason for this is 2 fold. First, and most important, Accountability. Being held accountable in your reporting and knowing that there are consequences helps keep all of us diligent in our fitness commitments. Each of you need to internalize that you committed to a healthy transformation over these 4 months. Weekly tracking of your progress and reporting is a big part of that. As each of you go through your week knowing that you will have to account for your choices of diet and exercise it will help you make better decisions. Second, which is less important, it is enough work for us to update everything daily. We don't also want to be playing catch up on late reports.

Fear can be a healthy motive at times and losing 100 bucks and being out of the competition is a healthy drive to help you achieve your goals. Have a great next week on your Quest!

*Also, here is the % weight loss calculation: weight loss divided by original weight=% so for example. 10 lbs. weight loss divided by 200 lb.s start weight = .05 or 5%
